Crafting Live at Doncaster Racecourse

On Saturday 15 & Sunday 16 July, the Crafting Community descended on Doncaster Racecourse for The annual Crafting Live event. Hosted by Stephanie Weightman, craft show presenter and passionate crafter, the award-winning event remains hugely popular amongst new and experienced craft lovers.AK0_5895.jpg

The exhibition hall was bustling with over 75 separate stalls, offering everything from paper craft materials to wools and yarns for knitting. The Doncaster Racecourse site was ideally suited to such an event, with perfect spaces both inside and out and enough room to accommodate a great range of workshops and seminars.

Providing thousands of craft products and materials all under one roof, all craft interests where catered for. With our exhibitors stocking stamps, dies, decoupage, fabric, ribbon, beads and everything in between, guests were able to stock up on materials whilst taking inspiration for future projects. Alongside this, workshops were running throughout the two days covering everything from lace work to cards.

AK0_5936In its 8th year, the event drew in crowds of over 6000 across the two days. A free shuttle bus was available, running between the racecourse and Doncaster train station for those not driving, and ample free parking for those who where. The Racecourse also provided a great array of dining options with our food hall open for guests throughout the event and ample room for crafters to sit down and rest between workshops, seminars and shopping.

As ever the event was brilliantly attended with a fantastic, creative atmosphere. Crafting Live always draws a passionate crowd and is an event the racecourse looks forward to hosting each year. The event has already received some incredibly positive feedback and so we thank the team at Crafting Live and of course the 2017 attendees!

DONCASTER skies are set to dazzle when a sporting venue gets Halloween celebrations underway with a firework display and free entertainment this month.

Doncaster Racecourse is set to get into the spooky spirit at Fireworks Spectacular on Saturday, October 31, and will kick-start its early Bonfire celebrations with a firework display set to wow the crowds.

Supported by Hallam FM, the Town Moor event will feature free entertainment for all of the family including a special appearance from children’s entertainer, Mr Dan, who will be performing his circus workshop and offering children the chance to spin plates and walk a tightrope.

The evening will also include an early bird offer of £1 on all small fairground rides, kids’ disco, indoor bouncy castles, Halloween fancy dress and colouring competitions, fire tricksters, face painters, jugglers, stilt walkers and much more.

Kieran Gallagher, executive director at Doncaster Racecourse, said: “This year, we are kicking off our Bonfire celebrations a little earlier than usual to offer guests a spectacular family-friendly evening including lots of free entertainment.

“The event will be a first for the region so we are expecting families of all ages through the doors to enjoy a stunning fireworks display. I urge those who wish to attend but haven’t yet purchased a ticket to do so in advance to avoid disappointment or queuing on the night.

“We are keen that the evening runs as smoothly as possible and we have adjusted the fireworks firing position to cater for all weather conditions following advice from our health and safety experts. This new position will minimise the likelihood of weather-related disruption and allow spectators to enjoy a spectacular display in front of the grandstand viewing areas.

“People are also encouraged to use public transport and shuttle buses will be available. However, the racecourse does have extensive parking for those who need to travel by car.”

The event starts at 5:30pm with a limited number of £5 family tickets available from Hallam FM website.  For full details of the event, timings and further information please visit Doncaster Racecourse website www.doncaster-racecourse.co.uk
